Summary
We are seeking an experienced Game Designer to join our globally distributed, fully remote team. You will play a pivotal role within the close-knit studio, developing games from inception to live operations.
We're proud to be developing Fableborne, a hybrid midcore game that blends base building with ARPG raiding. In this asynchronous competitive game, players engage in snackable, action-packed PvE combat while raiding each other's bases. You will have the opportunity to contribute to all aspects of the game, including systems, economy, monetization, and live operations.

Responsibilities
Pixion Games culture is of ownership, autonomy and making data-informed decisions. You will have the opportunity to create hypotheses, prototype solutions, gather data with both stealth and community playtests to then analyze, learn and iterate. We strive to balance decision-making with quantitative, qualitative and creative inputs.
1. Game Systems:
Collaborate with the team to design and implement core gameplay mechanics, ensuring they are engaging, intuitive, and balanced.
Design and refine in-game systems that shape player progression, grow retention and monetisation, and deliver an overall fun experience to the player.
Explore new game systems that leverage blockchain technology’s functionalities.
Utilize Unity to playtest in development features, content and balancing.
2. ARPG Combat:
Design familiar, readable and viscerally satisfying ARPG combat systems.
Level design that tailors environments to create strength and weakness scenarios for the different hero classes.
Design RPG familiar characters with distinctive attacks and play styles that cater to diverse player gameplay styles. Players who master more complex characters receive power payoffs.
Continuously iterate and research combat and level design innovation to compete against world-class ARPG combat experiences.
3. Economy Design:
Balance in-game economies and monetization strategies to provide players with a fair and rewarding experience.
Collaborate with the product team to design and implement virtual bundles, pricing strategies, and in-app purchases.
Develop hybrid closed and open game economies that leverage blockchain technology - for example, off-chain hard currency and fungible liveops token.
4. Live Operations:
Plan and execute post-launch live PvP events, PvE challenges, and content updates to engage, re-activate and retain players; and create daily/weekly/monthly monetisation opportunities.
Continuously monitor, with the support of the product and community team, player behavior and feedback patterns to make adjustments and improvements to the game's live content.
5. Communication and Collaboration:
Be a proactive problem solver, identifying and addressing challenges as they arise. Taking ownership is essential, avoiding assumptions.
Overcommunication to succeed as a fully remote studio. Expect daily usage of slack and adhoc voice calls that mimic walking to a colleague in an office.
Collaborate with cross-functional team members to bring your design ideas to life.

Your Experience
Four or more years designing and shipping game design features and content.
Experience growing a live f2p mobile title through live operations design.
You have worked on at least one f2p game from concept validation to global launch.
You find translating numbers into great player experiences fun.
You’re comfortable analyzing data, creating hypotheses, designing experiments and measuring results to learn.
Create and maintain detailed design documentation.
You enjoy mobile games from multiple genres. You believe that competitor analysis insights can be learned across genres.
Enthusiastic about f2p blockchain gaming and keen to experiment new ways of playing and building a community with this technology.
You are motivated to work on a free-to-play title that contains loot box mechanics.
